Merion Civic Association Board Meeting

Open Sky energy- Jo Coyle-involved for 15 years.

2 ways to do it

-Purchasing agreement- break even in 10-12 years

-Power Purchase Agreement-don’t put any money into it, don’t own it. You’re charged for what you use. Solar company gets the credits.

First identify how much energy you use.

Can add battery.

Technology is improving.

Check that your roof is in good shape. You don’t get a tax credit for a new roof.

Squirrel guards may be a good investment, also for leaves

PECO may charge you if you require upgrade of infrastructure.

Can do on slate or metal roof.

Community solar is an option for the future.

Lighting ordinance before board, delayed til next month. Has standards for playing fields that continue to be controversial.

Development in Bala Cynwyd -278 apt units at 1 Belmont; 1,2,3 Bala also being developed

St Charles Seminary Development- deconsecrating site, evolving

Report code violations, esp parking

Township and Land Development

A- Federation of Civics’ Kevin Murphy and Les Greenberg

Kohelet dropped request for use for religious services

B-St Joe’s and City Ave- Barbara Sylk/Todd Sinai

Underpass- Interested in open communication, working with neighborhood

C- St Charles Seminary- Susan Guthrie/Todd Sinai

660,000 sq ft of space existing to be retrofitted

650,000 for medical building

1.5 million sq ft of new space

Seminary Neighbors Association-formerly CNCQ

It’s a concept, not a plan.

Current zoning allows 28% impervious.

Changing zoning requires BOC approval.

They can subdivide property for zoning.

LMSD School Board- Melanie Schafmeister

Fire and Public Safety- Kevin Murphy

National Night Out- Aug 9 at Wynnewood Shopping Center

Streets- Renee Hill

Station and Grounds- Scott Feuer and Carol Lavoritano

Planting was a success in spite of the rain. Build on a great help!
